Trekking @ Long Pond Ironworks and Highlands Trai 09-07-08
That was an adventure,great lakes,rivers,and some mine discovering,we discover Patterson mine. We saw mine holes,test pits,tailing piles and an unimproved wagon road.We saw the Whritenour mines,the ruins of Long Pound Iron Works
Long Pond Ironworks was founded in 1766 by the German ironmaster Peter Hasenclever. With financial backing from British investors, Hasenclever purchased the existing Ringwood Ironworks as well as huge parcels of land, including the 55,000-acre Long Pond Tract.
